I was having the same problem. I am running Mac OSX and checked the DNS servers under my network setting and they had disappeared. When I tried to go Xtube last 11/23/09, the page failed to load. Then this morning, I was getting redirected to some other IP address.

This led me to suspect a problem wiith my DNS servers and when I cheked under my Network system preferences, my DNS servers assigned by my IP had disappeared. I manually added my DNS servers and Xtube loaded fine.

Could this indicate some sort of malware that is misdirecting users of Xtube? If so, what would be the point of targeting Xtube? Surely other sites must also be the subject fo redirecting. So far I haven't been able to identify any Malware on my computer with MacSCan but I am very very curious as to what you guys think.

I'd like to know too. I tried going on about 20 minutes ago and what i got wasn't xtube. I hope its just down or moved and not gone. I have been having problems though. When i go on it shows me old videos even when I "sort by date" to show me the newest. I still get videos from 3-4 weeks ago. I need xtube! So far this question is the only one that is recent about xtube.

I began having the problem with Xtube redirecting last night [11/23] when I log on through my DSL account, however when I log on through my laptop using wifi through the cable co I can get through to Xtube. When I do get through though the welcome page has been redesigned.

I also haven't been able to find any malware on my computer. I had been receiving a red popup window each time I logged on to Xtube for the last 3 weeks or so, even though I have a popup blocker in place.

I Dont Think You Need To Be A Genius To Work Out That xtube Has Been Hijacked - Its not a virus on your computer cause you would be getting this **** on all urls - And the webdesigners at xtube would never put this **** up if they were down for maintance -

Well I noticed if I go to xtube in via my broadband provider Timewarner cable roadrunner highspeed internet, xtube.com is blocked and redirected. If I go to xtube via a dialup connection using AOL, Xtube.com works. So I was thinking Timewarner cable internet was blocking/redirecting the site. Though if others are having problems getting to Xtube and they don't have Timewarner cable broadband, then some kind of hack must be happening

Don't worry guys, this message was posted on the site's blog. For some reason, some can access the site, and some can't:

Website Error

Last night our DNS provider screwed up meaning no one could access the site last night between 10pm and 2:30am EST. The error is corrected and don’t worry, XTube is not going anywhere. As of this blog, there are still some connection errors so somethings wont work correctly until all the server errors are cleared, believe me we are just as frustrated as you are about this. We are working on it as I write this and we should have it all sorted out and back to normal shortly.

Sorry for the trouble and we will keep you updated.

Stay Horny My Friends!

Edit:

Looked on the sites forum, and it is fixed - just not for everyone. Staff member posted this:

Time it takes for you to see the proper site, depends on how long your ISP caches resolutions on your local DNS server. Sadly, continually re-querying for xtube.com likely will encourage your ISP to keep the old (erroneous) result cached. Try on 3-4 hour intervals.

FYI, I'm on Bell South in Florida and was having the same issue. I just changed my DNS over to Internet Guide from Dyndns.org (see below link) and its back! Its also blocking those evil spam redirects that I kept getting from XTube's ads.

Xtube is not working for me either. I'm in the eastern US. A few days ago, I got a red window that said Microsoft said it wasn't safe. Today, I got a bogus looking site. The suggestion of xtube.com/YouUserName didn't work for me.

Ok listen to everyone dealing with this problem. Your DNS settings have most likely been hijacked. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections or Network and Sharing Center (Depending on what Windows Version) > then go to the area where you can change the properties of your network card and adapters (A link to the left called "Manage Network Connections" in Vista and "Change Adapter Settings" in Win 7). Right click on the adapter you are using to receive the internet through i.e. wireless or LAN > select properties > go down to the internet protocol (TCP/IP) > select properties > delete the malicious DNS entries (might have to click advanced to do so) > make sure that acquire DNS address automatically is selected > select OK > make sure the DNS settings haven't been changed the same way for ur other adapters i.e wireless or LAN. Good Luck.

It was up this morning. If you have looked at xtube and the videos are still in your history some of them will still play. Hope that will tie you over until its fixed.

I'm having the same problems. I've found that "xtube.com" loads (barely) but "www.xtube.com" redirects to that bogus xtube page. Also, if I type in "xtube.com/MyUserName, it takes me directly to my page and shows my most recent uploads from yesterday afternoon right before it went down. If you type "www.xtube.com/YourUserName", then it takes you directly to the bogus page. I'm no web guru but looking at the source code of the bogus page, it looks as though a website by the name of "kolmic.com" is somehow involved in the redirect. DNS whois reveals kolmic.com as having a mailing address in the Netherlands and is referred to as "resellerclub.com". Maybe it was hacked? I don't know...hope it comes back soon though :)

it IS a Time Warner thing. My home network is Time Warner cable broadband. No xtube.

I fired up my laptop with a verizon wireless card and voila - I have xtube

I have had the same problem this morning (6:30 CST). Can't get on. I even went into my history and tried to view some videos I had recently watched. Same problem; got directed to the bogus x-tube site every time. I'm totally bummed. I'm off work today and home alone and was looking forward to a little relaxation. Could their URL have been hijacked?

I am getting the same thing. It sucks. I have over 20 albums and 70 favs. BUT It could be maintenance total overhaul. They could of got shut down (i don't think so, their fan base is so strong.) It could of been a glitch they are trying to fix. I am a fan on facebook. so i hope someone will tell us something. we will have to wait it out and see.

Everyone please read aa's answer above, this is not a virus.

xtube posted on their blog that it was a screw up or hijacking at their name service provider.

The reason it hasn't been fixed for everyone is that different name servers update on different schedules and the fix hasn't propagated through all the DNS servers yet.

Time-Warner seems very slow, but if you google for a free DNS provider and replace the DNS address of your internet provider with one of those you can get around it until your provider updates.

Yeah. I don't know what's up either. I log on every night at this time and I was like, "What the hell is this"? I'm just hoping it returns to normal. I've got loads of videos saved to my profile, and I don't want to lose um. If anyone figures it out, let me know.
