i was circumcised when i was 12.

the whole circumcision process wasnt bad at all.. the only pain you will feel was the anesthesia.. which was just like.. a pinch on your penis. after that.. everything was numb.

im 19 now. but since i was pretty young then.. i didnt look one bit when that was happening.

but it didnt hurt as much as i expected it to be. it didnt hurt at all.

but the healing process was another story.

it should almost fully heal up within a week.

and of course it will lose a little bit of sensitivity because your head will not have a skin covering it anymore. but its still a little sensitive. which is good in some occassions. if you know what i mean. ;)

but you will get used to it in time.

i hope everything goes well!

I'm probably going to end up getting done myself. I have my consultation in 2 weeks also.

Here is what my research came up with.

Phimosis can be cured by stretching if you desire to keep your foreskin, since you don't desire that we'll go ahead and answer the rest of your questions.

Surgery, should only take 30 minutes.

Anesthesia, if you get a local, it will numb the area, after the doctor has finished you will be able to walk around. In fact you could walk around during the procedure if you desired, but that is obviously not recommended.

If you get a general anesthesia you will fall asleep and wake up bandaged. You will likely have trouble walking at first and it will be difficult to urinate (which you must do prior to discharge).

In both cases it's an outpaitient procedure and you will leave the hospital the same day.

Sensitivity, if you actually need it for medical reasons and you desire it, most generally prefer to be cut. If you are pressured into it and don't desire it, you will generally resent it. This is according to my own research. I've heard the gamut of stories about sensitivity, truth be told, the best answer is simply that it feels differant. If it is better or not is up to you to decide.

I had it done at the age of 57, as a matter of fact it will be three months ago at the end of this month...I didn't feel like doing much more than laying around for just a couple of days, not that I was in so much pain as it was just uncomfortable. I was able to get up and walk around. I have noticed as it's been healing that there is a loss of sensitivity, but it's too early yet to say what the final outcome will be. Everything works just fine and it's nice not having the problems with infection that was prevalent with foreskin. There is still some tenderness in some areas, not painful but tender. If you are getting it done because of problems associated with the foreskin I can only suggest you go ahead with it...I really wish I had it done when I was your age, it would have saved me a host of problems over the years...

It's understandable that you don't like your foreskin if it doesn't work right. I mean, who likes something that doesn't work right?

Pain is most common during the first two weeks, especially with erections, as the wound around the most sensitive body part heals. However, there should be no sex or masturbation for about almost about a month (to make sure it's properly healed). As for the anesthesia, as with most surgeries you'll probably be told not to eat about 12 hours before the surgery.

However, keep in mind that you can try to fix the foreskin (stretch it) so that it stretches back. That's what I did at around early puberty age and I haven't had a problem since. I wrote about that in the following link, and the nice thing about that is that once it works well you can see if you like it or not (I did):

From a medical study perspective, circumcision does have risks. You can read the studies themselves to see how common the risks are (they give you percentages, for example).

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,285532,00.html

And despite being more sensitive, you still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:

Makes masturbation more difficult:

http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06646.x

Which makes sense, that's how it was made popular in the USA:

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:

Best of luck.

Well welcome to the club!

The surgery is nothing! I was done in office with a local, perhaps an hour in the office. Was told to ice the area for the next few days and given Motrin for pain. Was circumcised on a Friday and back in class on the following Monday! Wear tighty whities until the dressing and stiiches come out.

Sex rocks when you are cut! When you are uncut you are basically masturbating inside your partner. When you are circumcised you feel your partner and they feel you! The result is incredible orgasms! I highly recommend being cut! Had my son's cut at birth! It is such a simple snip at birth and the benefits are throughout a lifetime!

Well when my brothers had it done they were in extreme pain. They were I think 3 and 8. They stayed in bed for a long while and I think walking was a pain for them for a while.

Why on earth do you hate your foreskin? Have you tried any alternative treatments besides circumcision?

I'm not cut and I'm glad. I couldn't imagine having a dried, desensitized penis. If you still decide to go through with it, good luck!

From what I know... there is a loss of sensitivity. You can't go swimming... and it can be a little painful everynow and then.
