If you are truly morbidly obese (BMI > 40kg/m^2) then it will be very difficult for you to lose weight by diet alone, but it is doable.

Gastric bypass patients lose 30-50 pounds per month in the first few months following surgery. There is nothing really magical about the surgery though. All we do is make the stomach smaller (about the size of a chicken egg) and rearrange things to make it feel strange if the patient eats the wrong stuff (like especially sweet things and high carb things). The "magical" thing about the surgical weight loss is that it makes losing soooo much easier. This is especially true in today's world where it is culturally expected to overeat.

Think about it. You drive up to the nearest fast food joint and the "No. 1" meal is a 1/4 pound burger, bunch of fries and a sweet soda. THAT'S a LOT of food, especially for some people who have a genetic predisposition for obesity who may only need a couple of fries to gain weight.

Those who have surgical weight loss usually start with a high protein liquid diet for the first month. And - here's the hard part - only about 500 - 600 calories per day. You can do that without surgery (I've seen a few who have), and if you can do that you will see amazing results (be sure to take vitamins, Calcium and Iron). Surgery just makes it a lot easier.

Oh yeah, they also exercise daily and regularly participate in a support group (e.g., Weight Watchers, TOPS, etc.). It doesn't really help lose that much weight, but studies have shown that those who exercise daily (and it doesn't have to be anything more than just walking for 30 minutes), and attend a monthly support group keep the weight off longer

Good luck.

If you could, try cutting down on the eating, have a little over a serving then once you're used to that, go to a regular serving.

You may have heard of the Slim Fast diet. Slim Fast is high in sugar and isn't that healthy. I've tryed using it but it only made me hungry all the time, and made me want more than I did before I started Slim Fast. I'm not sure if it'll do that for you but maybe you should atleast give it a try.

Then I started drinking Red Bull. It's an energy drink, and fills you up easily. I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks when I had Red Bull. I'm a very lazy person, and I stay up all night, and sleep more than half the day. I never excercise, I sit on the couch almost the whole time I'm up. But I drink Red Bull. And it has helped so much.

Another good thing about Red Bull is that it's healthier than Slim Fast.

A bad thing is that it cost about $2 a can. It's totally worth it though.

You'll be able to keep up with your 4 year old.

If you're not able to do the Slim Fast diet, or drink a Red Bull instead of eating a meal, then you do need to talk to your doctor to see if there's some pill that could help you lose the weight.

Do NOT consider surgery!!!! It's very dangerous, and may leave scars.

I hope this has helped. If not, there are ways to lose weight.

the first thing you need to do is talk to your doctor.

Then you ave to eat less and move more. If you are having problems with cravings, ask your doctor about Adipex. It is a appetite suppressing drug (FDA approved, not a supplement) that may help. You need presciption and can get it at most any pharmacy. It should also be covered by your insurance.

I think about it like this. There hunger in your stomach (when you need food) and hunger in your mind (when you want food). this drug will turn off the hunger in your mind and help you from snacking too much.

The only problem is the drug only works for 3 to 5 months. After that you get used to it and it stops working, but that is enough time for you to develop healthy eating habits and see some real results, that should be able motivate you to continue on the road to better health.

Good for you for addressing this, you will feel so much better after you have lost some weight. Unfortunately, the only way to loose weight and to keep it off is to change your life style, similar to quitting smoking. Start by going to your doctor, as you have some special health concerns you need to consider. You can also start by changing your diet, and some visits with a dietitian will help as well. The problem I had when I started gaining weight was that I did not know how to eat correctly. It sounds silly that someone does not know how to eat correctly, but their are so many of us out there that don't. I wish you all the best of luck with this!!!

Gastric Bypass Surgery/gastrectomy/lapband (all types of weight loss /bariatric surgery) is very cheap and safe in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her obesity surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

I would suggest you see your normal doctor who can best suggest a diet for you which won't lead to problems with your blood sugar, or other health issues, and won't be affected by your medications and won't cause problems to your medications.
